FFT Theories ; What Happened?
These theories have my own personal answers to them, so it's not like anything I say is set in stone. If you disagree with me, that's all right... because it's just my opinion. :] So, on to the theories! (However, if you strongly disagree, e-mail me with whatever reasoning it may be. I might add it to the site if it sounds pretty good!)
Did Ramza (and the others) die?
In my honest opinion, no, he did not. I'm not sure where anybody has come up with this idea, but in order for Ramza to have been dead, Olan would have had to have imagined seeing him and Alma riding on the chocobos together. Besides, the ending says, "Since then, no one has caught sight of the two." If they were dead, wouldn't the ending have been a bit more ambiguous?
Since the church branded Ramza a "heretic," it only makes sense that he would live the rest of his existence out in secrecy. He already did what he set out to do -- which was to save his sister. With Delita "bringing peace" to Ivalice, there wasn't much need for Ramza's heroics anymore.
So, you're wondering, how were there mourners at Alma Beoulve's grave? Well, if you can stage the death of T.G. Cid, surely, you can stage the death/burial of Alma! As for the others, (Agrias, Mustadio, Meliadoul, Cloud, Orlandu) – psh, they were all alive and well. After seeing the "truth," wouldn't you want a fresh start, a new life?...
Did Delita kill Ovelia, or was it the other way around? Wait, who stabbed whom? Did they both die? What exactly happened?
This one is a confusing one, indeed. After the first time I played the game, my initial thought was, in a nutshell, What the hell? However, after many play-throughs, I've come to the conclusion that they both stabbed each other, but only Ovelia died.
I do believe that Delita truly loved Ovelia, but after his sister's murder, Delita had been changed forever and completely. Delita's love is real but shallow, probably due to the fact that he was afraid of giving himself completely to another. (Ramza's brothers betrayed Delita, his lack of noble-blood came back to spit in his face, and his sister was murdered... how do you think Delita is going to feel?)
Because of the fact that his love is shallow, I don't think it was too difficult for him to stab his wife. He already used everyone and got what he wanted, but if Ovelia were to betray him (the way that she did), then why not get rid of her, too?
As for Delita's question to Ramza: Ramza.... What did you get? I......... That's self-explanatory, isn't it? Ramza, Delita's one true friend, who never betrayed him but was in turn betrayed by everybody, was able to find real happiness, whereas Delita (whose quest for ultimate happiness was completely insatiable) – the commoner who essentially created his own "perfect" destiny – was simply unable to understand Ramza's motives or heart. Why? Ramza was a much deeper, selfless soul, and Delita could never fully grasp a concept like that.
Ending Note
Those two are actually the only confusion-ridden theories I've heard about FFT... maybe I'm missing some and don't know about it? Please of any I don't have listed here, so I can add it to this section!
